Gmail and Google Workspace mailboxes can connect to OrbitVibe two ways: one-click OAuth (see the Google Cloud setup guide) or classic SMTP/IMAP with an app password. This guide covers the app-password route — handy when you can't (or don't want to) set up a Google Cloud project.
What you need
A Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox you can sign in to
2-Step Verification turned on (app passwords require it)
Step 1 — Create a Google app password
Google blocks normal passwords over SMTP, so this step is mandatory:
Open myaccount.google.com/security and make sure 2-Step Verification is on.
Name it (e.g. "OrbitVibe") and click Create.
Copy the 16-character password — you'll paste it into OrbitVibe. Enter it without spaces.
IMAP is always enabled on current Gmail accounts; there is nothing to switch on.
Step 2 — Connect in OrbitVibe
Settings → Email Accounts → Connect account → Connect SMTP / IMAP.
Enter your Gmail address.
Provider: Gmail / Google Workspace — the servers fill themselves:
SMTP — smtp.gmail.com · 587 · STARTTLS
IMAP — imap.gmail.com · 993 · SSL/TLS
Password: the app password from step 1.
Verify & connect. OrbitVibe signs in to both servers, mails your address a small test message and waits for it to arrive — usually 10–30 seconds.
Good to know
Sending limits: Google allows roughly 500 emails/day on personal Gmail and 2,000/day on Workspace via SMTP. Keep your OrbitVibe daily limit below that; new sender reputations are built slowly anyway.
"Username and Password not accepted" — you used your normal password, or 2-Step Verification isn't on. Create the app password and try again.
Revoking the app password at any time instantly cuts OrbitVibe's access; the account card will show Reconnect needed.
